Speaking of the Flyers, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported last Saturday that they're in contract talks with Christian Dvorak. The 29-year-old center joined them last summer on a one-year, $5.4 million deal. Because he's on that one-year contract, the earliest he can sign an extension is Jan. 1.

Before the game, Edmonton confirmed a key update on goaltender Tristan Jarry. Jarry suffered a lower-body injury during the second period of a December win over the Boston Bruins. The injury forced him out of the game and landed him on injured reserve. It came during his third appearance since arriving from the Pittsburgh Penguins on December 12.
